please note: for privacy reasons telephone numbers of individuals are no longer provided on this website. Call me and
I will give you their numbers once I get their consent.

When at home, please respect the electric appliances and follow these SAFETY MEASURES:
· Open
the air conditioners’ “box” on the terrace in order to improve ventilation and avoid overheating.
IT IS DANGEROUS AND NOT ADVISABLE TO USE THE AIR CONDITIONERS WHEN THE “BOX” IS CLOSED.
· Do not leave the
air conditioning on for unnecessarily long periods of time, especially do not leave it on when you leave home, or it may overheat.
·
Be careful with the remote control of the roof window. The [M] key selects either the glass window (finestra
di vetro), rolling blind (serranda) or curtain (tenda). Please refer to the notes behind the remote control. Never
try to close the rolling blind unless the glass window is fully closed, or open the glass window unless the rolling blind
is fully open. Close the rolling blind and/or the curtain of the roof window when you are out so that the heat stays
out as well.
· Homes in Italy have restrictions on peak power consumption. Using too many high-powered appliances simultaneously
(air conditioners, oven, water boiler, hairdryer, washing machine) will cause the main switches (in the panel
next to the fridge and/or in the boxes between the “back door” of Sporting House and the tennis courts) to flip
down. A key to the main switches box is provided. Switch off some appliances, then flip up on the main switches again. A flashlight,
some rechargeable batteries and a charger are provided.
· The washing machine is equipped with a "half
load" button and a safety timer that prevents opening it for a few minutes after the washing has completed , the water has
been drained and power has been turned off. If you see you cannot open, do not try and force the handle. Wait and try again.
·
Freshwater is scarce and expensive in Sardinia and specifically on La Maddalena where it has to be imported
from the mainland on trucks and stored in reservoirs (often chlorinated). Please respect the environment and the needs of
people when using water. Also, definitely don't drink it. Bottled water is 10-12 cents per litre at supermarkets,
so stock up. Water supply is often restricted in the Summer so the house has some reserve tanks and a pump. If used well,
these are more than sufficient for the needs of six people. In the unlikely event that you need it, ask the custodian to help
you fit the pump, which is normally stored inside the house (it would get stolen otherwise).
· The water boiler
(scaldabagno) is in the bench on the terrace and it has switches next to it and in the panel next to the fridge.
· The
kitchen works with gas from a canister that is located in the bench on the terrace. If it empties out, ask
the custodian or me how to change it. The shop selling canisters is on the way to La Maddalena village, just when you turn
left and down at the traffic lights you will see it on your left, across the street from the supermarket. You will need to
return the empty canister in order to get a new one.
· The electric gate can be opened by key or remote
control (the lock on the outside of the gate is broken, use the one on the inside). Never force it open or shut by hand.
Housekeeping
·
Some linens & towels are provided. In normal weather conditions, if you run a washing machine in the
morning your things will be dry by the afternoon (there are lines for drying the wash next to the tennis court). Please leave
the linens and towels clean when you leave. You can leave them washed and dry, or run a washing machine and leave it to dry
for the cleaner to fold, or bring everything to the cleaners (“Linus”) and pre-pay (the cleaners have my name
and phone number in their directory).
· The house has been cleaned professionally before your arrival (included in the
rent) and it will be cleaned and checked when you leave. The cleaner costs € 10 an hour (either Cristina or the sister
– in – law of the custodian are available if you need a cleaner during your stay, please contact them and
make arrangements). The cost of final cleaning will be deducted from your deposit and will depend on how
much cleaning is required after you leave. You can talk to me and/or the custodian if you want the cleaners to inspect the
house right before you leave, their assessment of the house’s conditions is final as I may not have the possibility
to carry out an inspection muyself.
· Pets are strictly not allowed in the house.
· Please do not use
metal cutlery on non-stick pans and pots. Plastic and wood utensils are provided.
· Please refrain from
crushing insects on the walls as this will leave stains. A variety of personal or domestic mosquito repellents
are available from supermarkets.
· Recycling boxes for glass, paper and plastic are near the exit
of Villaggio Piras. Help keep Sardiania beautiful and clean!
· Smoking in the house is dangerous for
the furniture and can inconvenience those who live in the house with or after you.
· Please do not hesitate
to call me if you have any further questions or requirements.
